Pokemon Shit

it’s 2:30 am and I’m gonna be camping out pokemon cards at Costco around 6am. Why? Idk, I want to see the chaos ensue ☻. Other than that I’m trying to hook people up with 151 (friends and family for MSRP). Kinda fucked that the one costco I usually frequent does NOT have it in stock so I’m going out of my way to another one. If you don’t know much about Pokemon (or you’re reading this in the future), the hype is at an all-time high. Like, it’s genuinely crazy. Pokemon GO got collectors in during Evolutions? COVID came during Vivid Voltage? Pokemon Pocket got people during SURGING SPARKS AND THE MIDST OF PRISMATIC EVOLUTIONS. To give more context, Evolutions is a set catered towards vintage collectors, it kinda missed the mark competitive-wise and collector-wise, but it did fix that itch. That shit was rotting on store shelves for the longest time even during the 2016 craze that was Pokemon GO. Vivid Voltage? The rainbow Pikachu is 100$ (that sounds like a lot) then every other card is 10$ or less (pretty reasonable). The entire set is ~360$, which is pretty low for EVERY CARD you can pull. Other sets are lower but this is to point that this was mid. Surging Sparks is just vivid voltage but objectively better. Sure, some of the trainers are arguably better in VV than SS, but god damn does the artwork look nicer (thank you alt arts). And then you have Prismatic Evolutions… a set to compare this to is Evolving Skies (20 dollars a fucking pack rn). The top chase is an Umbreon VMAX. Guess the price, no really. How much can cardboard really be? 1500$? Yeah, you can master pretty much any modern set with that kind of money… The English release of Prismatic is looking to be similar pull rates to Evolving Skies (did I mention pull rates were 1/2000 for a specific top chase?). Btw this is not related to Evolutions; the chases are Eevee Evolutions (thanks Pokemon). If you’re somehow reading this still and don’t understand (I don’t either remember it’s now 3am as of writing this). Here’s a TL;DR:

POKEMON BOUTTA BE HELLA COOKED FOR THE NEXT COUPLE MONTHS UNTIL THEY PRINT THIS SHIT TO OBLIVION.

Japanese market enjoys waifu cards and English thinks you’re a pedophile if you enjoy those cards (this is related). The next set is a set ALL ABOUT TRAINERS. AND PEOPLE ARE HYPING THIS LIKE IT’S THE NEXT BEST SET. PRE-RELEASE PRICES ARE 250$ FOR A BOOSTER BOX. MSRP IS 164$. MOST SHOPS WOULD SELL EM FOR 100-130$. It really gives you an idea of who’s dick riding this for the $$$. I enjoy some trainer cards, but if I wanted WAIFU cards, then I’d collect Weiss Schwarz and Union Arena ☻. I got into the hobby BECAUSE they were so cheap (Korean booster box of Pokemon cards retails 30,000-50,000W; ~20-33$ as of this post). I ain’t collecting English, let alone mastering an English set anymore. I was already content with that before all of this hype happened. Korean and Japanese cards ftw (I am korean).

Legit the only reason to buy English is to flip/keep as a future investment long-term. Hell, I bought Evolving Skies packs at 4$ when nobody was buying em (or didn’t know they existed). Paid for my classes this term with em ☻. My logic is only buy when shit is cheap and sell when it’s at a reasonable price. 20$ goes past reasonable, which is why I sold them. If you wanna be proper about it, buy the shit people don’t want and sell it in the future (buy to where you can reasonably offload). You’d be surprised what deals people are missing during this craze lol. Anyway, that’s my Ted Talk. And remember:
